Business Entity Structure

Given the size of my upcoming product launch, I thought it prudent to go ahead with the step of forming a corporate entity to conduct the business in.

After some consideration, I ended up going with a Subchapter S Texas Corporation. I considered an LLC, as well as an out-of-state entity (Nevada and Delaware are popular states to incorporate in), but in the end, for several reasons which I won’t go into right now, the Subchapter S Corporation won.

I am currently in the process of finishing up the initial corporate formalities, as well as establishing a separate corporate credit score. I don’t intend to use debt to finance any of my business ventures, but in business, it never hurts to have a solid credit score and history.

The current launch date for my first product is December 1st, although that is subject to change, depending on the speed at which I can finish developing the product and finish up the sales letter and marketing strategy.

“Wake Up Productive” Review

About a month ago, I signed up for Eben Pagan’s “Wake Up Productive” training.

His course consists of a number of videos that are watched over a 90 day period. As of right now, he has published a total of 13 videos (including some bonus audio training files).

At $300, it isn’t free, but I would gladly pay much more then that if the course fulfills its promise to have me wake up twice as productive at the end of 90 days.

It looks like he isn’t accepting any more members right now, but I think he still has some free material up on his blog, for those who would like to check it out.

I’m obviously only partway through the program, but so far, I have picked up several useful tips which have increased my personal productivity. Will it produce long-term results? Ask me in a few months. :)

Personal productivity is a crucial foundation upon which to build almost everything else, and is something that anyone who is serious about accomplishing any major objectives should focus on.

Yes, I’m Still Alive

For those of you who were wondering, yes, I am still alive, and working away at this.

I have modified my plans slightly in order to have a better chance at making my goals, but the final goals have not changed.

For one, I was planning on investing the cash as it came in in penny stocks. However, with the current stock market conditions, it doesn’t seem to be the best investment to be made right now (although, arguably, if the stocks were to go up, now is the best time to buy, when the price is low).

As an alternative, I am going to be investing first of all in my businesses (mostly in advertising), but I am considering putting the rest of the cash in currency trading, to see if I can make a decent ROI with that.

As for the rest of my plans, I am focusing mainly on launching information products (including “continuity”/membership-type sites), and counting on PPC (pay-per-click) advertising, as well as hopefully a large number of affiliates, to drive sales.

I am currently wrapping up work on what is looking to be a major launch that will be occuring hopefully the week of November 3rd. I am hopeful that this product by itself will put me over the $250K mark by the end of the year, although I do have a number of other products (as well as the usual upsells, etc.) “in the pipeline”, in case this product doesn’t do as well as expected.

I can’t say much about this launch right now, but it is a monthly membership site, and I’m currently planning on launching it with ClickBank (contact me if you’re interested in being a launch partner, I desperately need a few more affiliates to take part in this launch in order to reach “critical mass”).

It is also a product that would be useful for nearly EVERYONE (yes, I meant that literally), so don’t think that it is just another internet marketing product launch, or something like that.

Drop me a message or leave a comment if you’re interested in possibly promoting this product launch (for a commission of the sales, of course), and I should be able to get you a pre-launch membership for you to review the product and decide if this is something you want to help out with.

On other matters, I am planning on taking the LSAT test on December 6th, so hopefully I will score high enough to get a full scholarship to Baylor Law School.

Anyway, my apologies for not posting in such a long time, but I’ll try to post more frequently as things are starting to snowball here.

The First Two Days

Wow, things are really picking up now!

In the last 48 hours, it’s almost as if my marketing mind has been put on steroids. I am finding that with the added pressure of all of my blog subscribers, as well as others (such as the ones on the Warrior Forum), I am able to think a lot clearer, and take massive action on my projects (nothing like accountability to keep a guy on track!)

I took the time on the first day to put together a detailed, prioritized to-do list for the next four weeks that I am currently working through.

Although I can’t give the details right now, it involves a diverse collection of strategies including content sites, subscription sites (for residual income), affiliate product launches, PPC campaigns, email marketing, and a wide collection of other techniques and combinations of techniques (like combining email marketing with a PPC campaign, and other logical combos).

In addition to the work on the task list, I also took time out today to listen to “$30K in 30 Days” by Meeting with the Masters, and “How To Make Your Fortune with Information Products” by Dan Kennedy (I had previously listened/watched both of those, but it’s always good to get a refresher every once in a while).

My basic strategy is currently to work on preparatory work for most of the first four weeks. Then, I am planning on going with a “shotgun approach” for the next eight weeks, to try to hit a wide range of niches with a wide range of techniques. After I am able to tell which techniques/niches have a lot of potential, I will then narrow in on those in the final four weeks to hopefully put me “over the top” of my $250K goal.

Anyway, I apologize for the scattered, unorganized nature of this post. I got three hours of sleep last night, and will probably get about the same amount tonight. There is a price for success, and it’s a price I’m willing to pay.

I have some more interesting posts coming down the pipe, so stay tuned!

The Countdown Begins!

Well, we’re at the “sixteen weeks until the end of the year” mark, so ready or not, my “Law School Challenge” is starting today (although I see that many of you have already found this website!)

To summarize what I am going to be trying to do in the sixteen weeks until January 1st, 2009, I will be working on accomplishing the following goals:

  1. Earn $250,000, mainly by internet marketing, although I am leaving all options on the table
  2. Get at least a 175 on the LSAT (Law School Aptitude Test)
  3. Get a fully-accredited college degree in Accounting

Why knock myself out, and have many sleepless nights in order to accomplish these goals?

Well, I have been wanting for several years to go to Law School, and after working as a freelance Web Developer / Internet Marketer for the past few years, I decided that there was “no time like the present”.

The initial “challenge” I had in mind was to get 60 hours of college credit, a 165 on the LSAT, and $100K in the bank, but after thinking it over, I figured “why not shoot high”, so I bumped those figures up, and am about to go full-steam ahead towards those goals.

As the financial aspect of my goal is probably the one that interests you the most, I’ll delve into that in greater depth for the remainder of this post.

Although I am, as I mentioned above, “leaving all options on the table”, I am currently planning on spending the bulk of my time (and getting the bulk of my income) from Internet Marketing.

I have several reasons for this:

First of all, Internet Marketing is an area in which I have a fair amount of experience. I am not walking into it with a blank slate, as I have studied Internet Marketing in depth in the past, and have also managed several Internet Marketing campaigns (PPC campaigns, in particular).

Internet Marketing is also an area where it is relatively easy to get a lot of leverage in a short period of time, in particular, if you have an email list.

Email marketing (opt-in, not spam) is going to be a key cornerstone of my plan, as that is one of the best, inexpensive ways to reach and build a relationship with a target market.

Well, I suppose I have said enough for the first post, but in closing, it’s going to be a very interesting next 16 weeks, so make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed or use the email subscription form at the top right of this page, so you don’t miss any of the action!
